Fish Compatability Qs
I would like to know peoples experiences keeping various species of chromis together, especially in smaller tanks. If I were to put 3 differant species of chromis, such as 1 green chromis, 1 vanderbilt, 1 blue, or perhaps a sunshine, purple, or what-ever, would I still have aggression issues like many experience with keeping groups of one species? Would they ignore each other like they do other (non-related) species, or, would they pick each other off?
Another Q. I'm interested in keeping a yellow-head jawfish (my primary interest for this tank) but, would also like to keep a goby/pistol shrimp pair. Would these be compatible sharing a 12x30 tank? I don't think the jawfish would pose an aggression issue, but, would he make a snack of the shrimp? Would the goby tolerate the jawfish? I'm most interested in one of these fish, Amblyeleotris Randalli, Stonogobiops yashia , or, my first pick, Cryptocentrus aurora and paired up with the candy stripe shrimp Alpheus randalli. I'd appreciate any feedback on these. Thanks in advance!

Feed heavy and the fish will get along better. If they get hungry they will start fighting. It's a known fact.

12x30 might be too small for Jawfish & Goby/Shrimp pair. I would choose one or the other. For what it's worth, I had a yasha goby / alpheus randalli pair in my 3g Picotope. I rarely saw the Yasha Goby (once or twice a week) and maybe every couple weeks on the pistol shrimp. They are fairly reclusive and in big tanks they virtually disappear. Whereas the Jawfish is usually fairly visible once they become accustomed to the tank. You can build a PVC burrow for the jawfish to make a place for him to be frequently seen as well.

Thanks for the replies, guys!
Cherubfish, I do feed my current fish 2 or 3 times a day, plus one night feeding when I feed the damsel in my sump...I don't believe in starving my fish, So, you think three differant species of chromis might work out? E3632... Appreciate the feedback. I really do want a more social fish since I will be so limited on this tank, so, I think I will cross the yasha off my list. I'm still torn over choosing either/or with the jawfish and goby/shrimp, but, will likely go either/or not both. I may just wait until next summer when they come available again and try to get a pair of jawfish. I've been playing with fish lists for over a year now and all I can say is that it has been so hard to narrow it down to fit my tank, and now that my tank is actually up and running, impossible to stick to! So far, not one fish in my tank now was on any of my fish want lists, lol!
