Skimming help.
So, new tank build, and im at a dilema. i have a marineland 300, i want to replace it. BUT i have a 18x18x18 cube as a sump. now id love to replace both, but cant find a solution. I want a reef octopus 4" 100 gallon as ive been told they are the best.
My current skimmer is 6 1/4" wide, and fits. any skimmers that are decent and would fit in this? I guess i could remove one of the baffles and shift it a 1/2-1" over to allow for the skimmer to fit. i am going to remove the filter floss basket and install a filter sock and run both drains to it. but before i do all that i need to figure this out. What i want to know is, what would you do as a setup with this sump. is it worth using, or replacing? Tank is a 35 gallon shallow rimless, and i have a ATO that will be going in. retun is a eheim, not sure the GPH at this moment, i'd have to check. foam id like to keep, bioballs are getting replaced with live rock, in a basket to contain them on the left. Heres my sump: |

I have a few questions.
What's wrong with the current skimmer? It's only a 30 gallon tank you realyl can't have much of a bio load. If it were me and you really want a different skimmer(like I always do). I would look at the bubble Magus 3.5 cone. I pulled mad gunk with it in my 45 cube. Very small foot print. Kc3

I have the same skimmer and it's a beast for it's size! If you cant fit anything in the sump look into external skimmers.
