Kalkwasser and PH question

I added pickling lime to my ato top off tank about 30 hours ago and my PH has gone from 7.8 to 8.2. Is this harmfull for it to raise that ammount in the time period stated and does that mean I have the mix to strong or will it level out. I do not want it any higher. My KH is fine at 9. I mixed 4 teaspoons to five gallons and I have a 38 gallon open top tank.

That is a little quick to raise your PH, but if there is going to be a problem the damage is already done. 8.2 is is a good place to hold your PH, add one tablespoon of white vinegar per gallon of top off water and see if that stabilizes your PH, if not add another tablespoon per gallon. Adding vinegar to your top off water will also allow you to dissolve more lime per gallon of top off water down the road if you need a stronger solution to keep up with coral demand.
