Back siphon question.
I've been running 150gal SW it was originally a FW tank and so the it never had a sump and the stand never had a sump in mind when it was built. Ooops. lol
No really it's more that I suck at plumbing and as well as I hear people flooding their floors plus the noise that why I never saw the advantage of a sump originally. Now I am thinking of upgrading to a 340gal. and will have an overflow (brand new) I'd go bigger, but that's the maximum I can fit in a tight bend and through the door with out knocking down a wall. If I buy used it could be either 240-340gal and maybe tempered because I do like my black rimmed tank like Hagen, but I still want to do it right with a sump this time. I am not not sure if I want to go close loop or open, I am still debating on that. My main question is how do you guys/ gals prevent back siphon on each end? Is there like check valve you can buy to put on the inlet line and outlet(return)? So if anyone can give advice and suggestion and possible picture of parts too that would be nice, because I get overwhelm walking into a plumbing department. Oh I forgot, in the mean time I want to get rid of my HOB skimmer and run an external on the floor. So I'm thinking of connecting a pump to bring water flow into the skimmer and another back into that tank, but still I don't want a flood so same question apply.
