Looks pretty good but IMO I would get that castle out of there just seems to out of place and more belongs in a FW aquarium. I would say remove it and either spread your live rock out or get more to add. That way youll have more room for coral.
I have a 65g aquarium myself and will be focusing more of Zoas and a few LPS. Tell us about your equipment and parameters. |

Well its a 60 gallon with rena filter, eshops overflow box leading to the aquanox model 2 sump/refugium, with the middle chamber with sand at the bottom & mineral mud ontop of that with little peices of live rock and algea plant, the 3rd chamber has a eshopps protein skimmer & return pump leading to my chiller which leads to the tank

Frequent water changes will help with high phosphates or you could run a uv sterilizer. Ive read on here where running carbon and GFO reactors help with algea problems as well. Thats my next upgrade im doing, santa is bringing it lol

algae problems come and go with new tanks. How long has the tank actually been running?
Sometimes it can be caused by excessive nutrients, what do you use to top-off evaporated water? Best way is to test phosphates and see what the reading is in the tank. Also, you NEED To remove that hippo tang. It needs a much larger tank to be happy... even if its still a baby, its best to remove it now. Are there two yellow tangs in the tank? I see that one is hiding? remove that also. |

You shouldn't have any tangs in a tank that size. Not only do you have a a yellow tang and hippo tang, you have TWO yellow tangs.
Besides that you are not doing the fish any favors, you had better watch out for nitrates and phosphates. Ken |

Now remember you asked for opinions....
These are my thoughts. I see nothing wrong with the castle. Be kind of cool if it was covered in zoas. The hippo and yellow tang should be in a much bigger tank. Especially the hippo. They need a 200+ gallon tank. And yellow tangs can exhibit alot of agression, which is why they should be in a bigger tank. They can be very mean. Also, get rid of the canister unless you feel like cleaning it alot. Weekly or possibly more than 2 times a week. All it will do is trap detritus and create nitrate and phosphate issues which later turn into nuisance algae and can limit the growth of corals....also will effect their health. As for the sump, if you plan on having the fuge for a way to produce pods in the tank, the fuge should be after the skimmer. |

Well i think i had the tank running for about 10 months maybe, but do to, the hurricane and power outages i had to start over with buying fish and coral, i lost 11 fish & 12 coral's . The only fish that stayed alive for 7 days with no power or food is the yellow tang and a fire shrimp. I did a few water changes and tank cleaning tested all my levels and then restocked the tank with 11 fish 2 shrimp 2 conch 2 emerald crabs & a clean up crew & alot of the corals you see are all frags, i just want to see them progress
so basically now the tank has been running for more than a month after my losses |

So you put 11 fish in a tank in one month? Why?

Not really to concerned about the fish, keeping fish was never my problem now that i have the overflow & sump & protein skimmer, as long as my fish are doing ok and not stressed and eating good, im just worried about other problems and coral problems.
So basically with the filtration i have now , do i need any other filter like the canister at all since i have the fuge & protien skimmer. I really dont know whats mandatory and not... |

Dropping 11 fish in 1 tank in a month is a problem. That can cause issues for corals if your biofactor isnt built up. Canisters arent really good for reefs as I mentioned before.
And not quarantining any of them can put all of them at risk to parasites and diseases. Thats WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many fish to add in one month. I know you dont like my opinion, but many will agree putting 11 fish in a tank in a month is going way to fast. And if you were really concerned on the corals health, you wouldnt have done that either. Your corals are going to be dependant on your water quality and based on that will determine what kind of additional equipment or filtration you will need. |

guys stop bombarding him with "No this and No that" Whats done is done now keep you cleaning in check, clean canister once a week or remove, and maybe introduce gfo for your algae.
