Reef Octopus NWB 200 Owners question.
It seems to me, at least in my setup, that I have to have the "water level" very far up into the cup neck to get some skim. Which is obviously much higher than they recommend as determined by the "max water level line". Anyone else find this similar to their setup?
Just want to maximize this skimmer. |

I have the nwb110. I have seen this. For a dryer foam I put the water level at the base of the collection cup. I move it about half way up for a wet foam.

How long have you had the skimmer? How high of water is the skimmer sitting in?
Pics would help determine whats going on. |

I have a NW150 and the "water line" that they provide is full of junk. I set my water line all the way to about 1.5-2" from the top of the overflow. I have been pulling gunk out fine now.
If I set the water level at their recommended area, I would never pull anything out. Had the pump for 6 weeks now. |

Good to hear Mikey. That's exactly what I was thinking. The recommended HIGHEST level doesn't even come close to have any bubble break near the top of the cone.
I have the skimmer sitting in 8" of water. I built and egg-crate type stand with 2" pvc feet zip-tied at the corners. Works pretty good. Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't crazy by not even coming close to using their recommendations. I get pretty good junk out of it when I have it set about an inch and a half below the top of the neck of the cup. Thanks guys! |
