hose clamps rusting
Anyone have any tips on those metal host clamps that you screw in to tighten? I hate seeing anything with rust inside my tank (or ATO in this case). The package from lowes says its stainless...

Stainless can still rust, it's just "rust-resistant. I personally use zip ties. There are also plastic hose-ties.

Hrm, doesn't seem like a zip tie could do much to secure a 3/4" plastic tube on a powerhead thats doing 1500gph (i.e. lost of force) - You have good success with this?

This is why I use PVC for return plumbing and Mur-Lok on manifolds.

I have a zip tie on a 1" vinyl tube attached to a pump doing 1800gph. Works perfectly; much better than the plastic clamp I tried to use, in fact.

hose clamp in my ATO reservoir (fresh RODI water) - even though its a tight fit it blew off before and made a mess... Cant do PVC yet due to the long trail upstairs so need flexible tubing until I move my sump downstairs..but yeah obviously that's always preferred where applicable.

There are all plastic hose clamps, this is what I used.
Something similar to these: http://www.aquacave.com/Plastic-Hose...FYYWMgod8AkAbA If you use good zip ties though, not cheapies, they work just fine too though. |

Let someone zip tie your hands together. They can hold alot more than you think

they use ceramic so the impellar shaft doesnt rust and fail, not because its bad for the tank. GFO is nothing but rust. |
