Help selecting LED Units
I have a 90g reef and mostly soft and lps. Would like to someday get sps but for now not taking that route. I currently have the following for lights.
The leds I have are from Aquastyle. 40x RB 18x 10k 18x 5k 2x Red 2x UV All @ 100 and also have 2x t5 48" bulbs. 1 is 10k and the other actinic. Now the thing is that these leds are split between 2 heatsinks. The heatsinks are 4in x 15in since they were originally on a 10g and a 20g tank. I just transfered them over to the 90 but now the light does not cover the back of the tank so I have to use the t5s. I want to get either a diy or if it's better or similar price a prebuilt led unit. I saw some AISol, Radion, and those Razors but so confused on which units to get. I have a really crappy picture of the tank below which shows you how much light is being produced at 100% from the leds and t5. That canopy is open on the top so I would prefer to hang the lights straight into the canopy(unless someone has a better suggestion)? So, let's say i want to stay near the $1k range. Also, I want to have a bluer color or a color that will make my corals pop but also be sufficient to grow sps should I choose. I know this is a lot (or not) to ask for but is there any unit that can do this? Being able to program the units would be a plus. Thanks in advance! [IMG][/IMG] |

the 10 k whites are killing you! if the fixture has those, its not a good fixture(usually) neutral white and warm white provide suitable spectrum. 660nm helps growth, uv and violet also beneficial.

Not uv, only TV (405-430nm)
Also get a diy fixture that uses better leds. Aquastyle IIRC aren't even real Bridgelux.

I just built a Steve's LED light, it's been over the tank for about a week now, I am very pleased with the color and brightness. This is over a 155 bowfront and was well under 1K.

which Razors did you get? Can you put some pictures up please?
Also, are we able to swap out the leds in the Razor and the New Radions? |
