Has your Eheim 1262 ever failed?

I have never heard of an eheim 1262 failing.

Have you ever had a 1262 fail?

I have backups for my pumps. Just buy a used 1262 from the classifieds for a good price and keep that as backup.

Might be good to have a backup just in case you want to soak the 1262 overnight for cleaning.

Maybe you shouldn't have mentioned the backup thing then, and simply asked your question?

I haven't had one fail, but I tend to sell off return pumps when they are about 5 years old.

I do something similar, I have both a Sicce 5 and a Laguna 1500 pump as my return pumps. While I am running one I have the other removed and cleaning. I rotate them every 6 months

Its good to have a back up just in case

You know it just occurred to me, I should have a backup!

One question though. Has anyone ever had an eheim 1262 fail?

I used one for several years on another build of mine without even cleaning the thing.

I've used eheims for years and have never had one fail (that wasn't a maintenance issue). I have a 1060 that's 20 years old and still running.

+1 on having eheim pumps (1262, 1260) for years without any fails/issues.

Sounds like you want to know if anyone has had a 1262 fail...

I had a shaft break on a 3 yr old 1262... I run 3 of them on my skimmer, and have 2 extra for backups... I try to clean them every 12 to 18 months... They chatter and stop running when I've tried to run them on my emergency generators!

Good to know. What type (Alternator type or inverter type) and what brand of generator are you using?

The only time a pump has ever failed on me was when I was on vacation for over a week and didnt have enough water in my top off reservoir. Pump ran dry for a day and then stopped working. I believe it was a 1260 though.

In this case the operator failed and I would not consider the pump as failing!
