Keeping Zebra Mantis Shrimp: Part 2

For those of you interested, the second of my two part article on keeping lysiosquilloids appeared this week in CORAL Magazine. It has more information on how I keep these animals.

Dr. Caldwell - Thank you for providing the link and taking the time to share this great information with the saltwater community!

Got really excited when I read your article as I believe I will now be able to get an L Maculata. I always stayed away from having an L Maculata because of the 120 Liter recommended size for an adult (per your list). Just wanted to confirm with you that I would be able to utilize a 10 to 15 gallon tank to house a juvenile L Maculata (2 to 3 inches). The tank is 24 inches long and I could build a nice 16 inch long pvc pipe for his home and follow your guidelines on adding sand and letting him build up.

A 3 inch L maculata can do well in a stable, well run in tank. The only problem might be that juveniles don't seem to like living in pvc. If it won't take to one, just let it dig from the surface.
