Lighting the fuge?
How long do you guys leave the lights on your fuge and when? I mean do you run the fuge light same as display light or???
I was going to run the light for 8hrs during the morning before the display lights come on. Jeremy

a lot of people run them opposite the tank lights to lessen ph swings.
I run mine 7pm to 7am. |

I run mine when the display lights are off, from 12AM-2PM. As mentioned, the reverse light cycle helps to stabilize pH values during the night.

If you don't have (macro)algea in there, you don't even need light.
But I do agree with my fellow reefers that a reverse cycle is the most common, and a simple light will suffice. |

I use a 16 Watt compact fluorescent flood light 5400K (available at Home Depot or Lowe's), they work great.

I was also told to run them opposite of display lights so that's what I plan on.

Most people run opposite of their DT. Some leave on 24/7.
I run mine 9:00pm - 6:00 am. My first display lights come on at 11:00am.

I run mine on the opposite schedule to my display lighting.. only because thats what seemed to be recommended and the reasoning made sense.. about PH swings..
I've never run it any other way. Mine runs Midnight to Noon. Display moonlights come on at Noon.

Opposite seems to be the best option.

I run a 20w 6500K CFL bulb in a clamp on fixture. It works really well and the chaeto grows great. No need to get too fancy when it comes to refugium lighting.
