Over flow

So I got a 40 breeder from Petco today sense it's $1 per gallon and I am wanting to setup a 40 g system so works out perfect. Anyways I really want to drill on the bottom of the tank so it can sit closer to the wall when built. I want to do a herbie overflow with standpipes.

The delema is I am not sure if the bottom of the Aqueon 40 breeder is tempered glass or not.???

Secondly, if the glass isn't tempere and I can drill it the way I want I am having trouble finding an overflow box. All I can find is the styles that bulk reef has that mount the the back of the aquarium. And that would require my drilled holes on the back pain of the glass.

Anybody know if there is a place that makes them? Or do you think one could be made relatively easy from maybe a big PVC pipe cut in half or even sheets siliconed together?

If you can drill the bottom, just find a local glass shop and have them cut you some piece of 1/4" glass to the size you want, then silicon it in. The only issue would be the fact that it'd be clear. Or you can get some 1/4" black acrylic, and a blade with a high number of teeth and cut it yourself.
