Question What reef octopus ? New to the hobby

Hi I'm new to the sw and this forum had to ask before I buy I'm kinda lost ..
I have a 65gal display -25gal sump I would like to space but also get the best I can .
Super Reef Octopus 1000LSS or SRO-XP1000SSS or about the diablo 160xp
All 3 seem like good skimmers to me but not much info comparing them and what's the best

Look into vertex new omega 150, reef dynamics ins135, sea side aquatics cs1, or reef oc's that don't have the internal pump. The sss models aren't balanced that well and you could do better imho.

I have the exact same setup. Obviously you've done your research and decided on RO which is a great brand of skimmer. Everyone will have various comments or advice for a different brand but I will tell you I have the sx 160 and I'm blown away by the performance. Being in the hobby 14 yrs I've used different types of skimmers but I will never bash brands. The sx 160 is a solid choice with a good footprint for your size sump.

I have the Reef Octopus Diablo 160 as well and LOVE IT. You would not be disappointed if you go that route. Sure, there are other brands that do just as well or even a little better, but they usually cost more too. With the RO's you can get some cool add on's like a skimmate locker and automatic neck cleaner as well. HTH's

honeslty they will all be around the same size. the LS and the SX are both rated for tank up to 160g. the SSS is rated for up to 125g. I see no difference between the LS and the SX besides the pumps. The SX runs a Italian made Sicce and the LS and SSS runs a bubble blaster pump. One other aspect to keep in mind: the SSS requires an optimal sump depth of 5.5 inches ( so be prepared to build a PVC stand to give it height in your sump. The diablo optimal depth is at 8.5-9 inches which i have mine sitting on the bottom of my sump with no stand and keep the water around 8.5 inches. It all depends on where you put them and what style your sump is.

Well I'm not sure people say the bubble blaster is good its a few more bucks so I would expect it to skim like a champ
