Matt's 150 gallon cube build

Let me introduce myself my name is Matt I have been following the forum for years and I finally decided to join and create my build thread.

Tank 150 gallon 3/4" 4 sided starphire miracles tank.

For my stand and overflow I got inspiration from d2 minis old cube.

Stand has 4 doors for full access all around. In the future it will be in the centre of my dining room

Here's the tank with internal overflow

The sump area is where I spent a lot of my time in detail work.

Equipment.

Lighting : vertex illumina 200 24"

Flow : ecotech mp40 in dry dock

Reactors : vertex rx-u for carbon and gfo. Also running a custom built calcium reactor.
I installed a manifold that feeds all the reactors and a drain line for water changes. It is fed by an eheim 1260

Return pump : eheim 1262

Skimmer : vertex alpha cone 170

Controller : reefkeeper lite with 2 pc4s and sl1 module

Rock : 75lbs pukani acid washed then cured with lanthanum chloride to insure no phosphates are leached

Drain : bean animal drain

All my testing equipment to insure everything is running smoothly

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359086157.123691.jpg

Livestock as of now is two clownfish and a chromis, longspine urchin, emerald crab, blood shrimp, blue leg hermits and Mexican turbo snails.

Still building my stocking list

What do you guys think?

This looks like a well thought out setup. What is the valve that appears to come out of the floor?

That is a very nice setup, I wish my sump looked anywhere near as good as that.

The valve on the floor is for ro di. I have 3 fittings at the back of the stand. One for rodi one for new saltwater and one for old saltwater. To pump up new saltwater I hit a switch on my dj strip and it turns a pump in the basement on and fills the sump

Very nice.
I love your style.
Your tank fits your home perfectly. I am a big beliver in the idea that a tank should look good empty just sitting in a room.
You have done a great job.

What is the plan for coral?

Most likely a mixed reef. Right now I have hammers, frogspawn, gsp, a growing zoa garden, open brain, elegance, red monti, and a leather. Looking to do some nice sps pieces up high and get plenty movement from lps a little lower.

Did you do anything for the wood the tank is sitting on? The perfect spot for a tank in my house is on wood flooring but I've been worried about a mishap happening and ruining my floors. I've already replaced them once due to a cat messing with water hoses in the laundry room that flooded half my house.

I never did anything to the floor but inside the stand I painted with waterproof paint and sealed the cracks with silicone so no water gets under the stand if I have a small leak.

And thanks for all the nice compliments.

Daaaaamn looks good! I feel like a true dillhole for posting my thread above! lol. I cant wait to get my rodi hooked up and start making water. (I dont know how lol, but I have a buddy that does coming to help me hook it all up) I love how your tank looks in your living room. I am going to be putting mine in the corner of my living room and running lines from my rodi to the tank (under the floor).
