AI Sol Mounting

Recently there was a thread about some kind of mounting rails found on ebay that were perfect for AI Sols, does anyone remember it or the item?

No. You can buy just the rails. And then for example screw them onto the canopy. Much cheaper than the set.

You can get aluminum T slot and use that...

something like this.. Just have to look around for a low cost source.

I bought the mounting rails from AI and then modified some aluminum L brackets from Home Depot. The rail kit included the legs to sit on the tank.

How did you attach the l brackets to the ai rail?

I used a hacksaw to cut about 3/8" off of the top of 'L' to make it flat. There is a groove in the AI Rail that is sits in.

I'm in the process of fabricating a whole new canopy for the lights to sit in. I'll be selling the rail pictured soon.

I used 80/20 t slot for my sol wall brackets and light rail. Great flexibility for the lights placement and maintenance accessibility over the tank

bm5650 - with your modified L brackets, how high above the water does that put your lights?

koddyVT - i suspended from the ceiling not too long ago and don't have a way to measure the distance. I think it was about 5 or 6 inches off the water.
