RO Unit problem

So I have a Vertek Puratek 100 that I purchased years ago (it's been out of commission for a couple years though) and I was trying to install my new membrane flush system. I got to looking and I can't find the flow restrictor at all. There's nothing in the lines and nothing on the unit (other than the little box that controls where the flow goes). Was I using it in perpetual flush mode? Am I just not finding the restrictor? Does anyone have any experience with these guys?

Thanks

Hmm. There is ether a tiny tube inside the waste line or a push to fit type. It can be anywhere.

It is possible that in the couple years its been out of commission the piece was lost.

A lot of the older membrane housings used a check valve elbow on the waste port. It is possible that you never had a restrictor because these check valves have a tiny hole.

Either way. You need a new membrane. Go with a filmtec 75gpd.

As for the restrictor make sure to replace the check valve (if its there) and install a new restrictor. I prefer a needle valve. They sell a little one at home depot that can be modified to work for just a few bucks.

Edit: not sure they have home depot in Korea xD but its basically a piercing saddle valve. I use something like this modified so both ends receive the john guest tubing.

Ah I think I just might be an idiot. Is this the restrictor? I always just thought it was a ball valve to stop the flow considering it's attached to the waste line coming out of the unit.

If I keep the restrictor at that point in the line, I should just install the flush kit there, right?

Yeah I already have the Filmtec 75GPD membrane with me right now. Could you elaborate more about how to modify the needle valve to be a restrictor? I could order one online but I'd like to get it tomorrow.

I just moved back to the states! I need to update my profile! I actually visited your state for the first time last week. Luckily, there were a few warmer/nicer days so we went up on the mountain.

Yea. That looks like the restrictor
But all the restrictor is doing is acting as a "ball valve" the build or release pressure

That pic is of the membrane flush valve not the flow restrictor

I think I'll just take the ball valve out and put a new restrictor. I have to change it for a different RO membrane anyways.

Just to avoid any confusion - a check valve is different than a flow restrictor, and they serve a different function. They're not interchangable.

Also - suggest you go for a static flow restrictor rather than a needle valve.

Yes - that is a flow restrictor with a flush valve. The capacity - 450 - is typically matched best with a 50 gpd membrane. What is your waste water to purified water ratio?

The system has been unused for a couple of years? Did you sanitize it?
