What is the fish you regret putting in your tank the most?

Six Line Wrasse that went into my mixed reef.

Why? Because it's basically a mini devil.

Undulated trigger fish. No longer have him thankfully and had him before i had corals thankfully. Had to tear out all my rock work to catch him. LFS told me he was about the same as a picasso agression wise. I no longer listen to the LFS concerning fish and always bring an internet capable phone to talk me out of impulse buys.

Blue reef chromis......Nice fish but boring personality. In hindsight, would have preferred adding another fish with some more personality.

Six-line wrasse. Unbelievable carnage in a 2" package.

I research thoroughly before adding fish so there can be and are no regrets.

I have to agree with six line. Very mean little fish. Waiting for him to die now.

About 25+ years ago, I was set to upgrade to a 150 from my 55. I got it set up and cycling. I worked p/t at a LFS then, and one day (on fish day) I picked up a bag and asked "what tank do you want me to put THIS in?" The boss lady (my gf at the time, said " why it would be great in that new tank of yours", so home it went. 25 years later, I still have him, although he has grown a bit - he was maybe 12" when I got him, now he's about 4'. He is a Gymnothorax Undulatus - a undulated moray, that just keeps going and going and going....

This is viable in the Internet era. The fish I referred to was added in 1987 where anything like reliable reef aquarium info was close to nil.

Various damsels over the years.. Got all but one out that was a model citizen when the other devils were in the tank for years. Now I'm stuck with a mean skunk damsel that attacks me and anything that gets close to him. Can't wait for my upgrade LOL.. He is the only fish in the tank that won't go into the trap. I've prob caught almost every other fish in it over the years except this one damsel.my fault totally thinking it will be ok regardless of what people say :-)..

not a fish....but mine would be a pistol shrimp. He would cover up every coral that I had down in my substrate on a daily basis.

Not a fish... Emerald crab. I had a small emerald crab grab my gorgeous coral beauty with one claw and strip all its fins of with the other. Couldnt get him out that day. The next day i found him again with the beauty in his grasp. I tore the tank apart and tossed him in the sump

Flame Angel. The "reef safe" coralivore. I know, I know.... it's a hit or miss. For me it was a costly miss.

Blue Devil Damsel. This fish is a bastard. Had him in a 300 gallon reef. I fished him out with a barbless hook from my fly fishing kit. Size 24. He even took some drag!

My big mean *** tomato clown. I have had him for bout 13 years and he is an old battle axe that limits what I can put in the tank. He has drawn my blood before when I put my hand in the tank. We have a love/hate relationship.

I almost forgot my imposter cleaner wrasse that munched on sps. Of the 70 or so varieties of cleaner wrasses I got the one that eats sps. I had to break down the tank twice and pull every piece of live rock to get him out.

Tiger watchman goby. Moves sand everywhere, which in itself is fine, but the cloudy water is starting to **** me off.

Domino Damsel!!! They are mean lil buggers!!! and mine was Satan's Spawn!!!! He killed my Borbonius Anthias ($150 fish!) and quite a few other fishies (other damsels, a cuban hogfish and a small clown in a nemmie!) It took me close to 6mos to catch the lil b**t*Rd! I ended up having to take all my rock out to get him! LIL JERK!!! he was so bad.. he attacked me every time I cleaned or put my hand in tank.. drew blood too!! smh I even have scars from that jerk!! Never Again!!! lol

my second.. An Indigo Blue Hamlet. Great fish.. Gorgeous!!! but he was waaaay to big for a 55g!!! I bought when small and had no knowledge about him except from LFS (before RC was even a thought to me) and was told it stay small!! yeah right!! he got sooo darn big.. and ate everything and everyone!!! He now lives in a 500g !!! yay!!! (:

inverts... I could go on forever lol but the worst would have to be a Decorator Crab that was sold to me as an Emerald Crab (again before I did any research on anything.. took LFS word for everything smh) He tore apart all my darn corals!! so glad I was able to catch him and bring him back! (:

Clown Trigger. LFS said if you get one while small, and it grows up with your other fish, you will never have a problem. I got a 1" fish. He grew fast, and when he reached ~2 1/2 inches he bit the head off my eel. A week later he cut my butterfly in half (twice the size of the trigger). He went back to the store that same day.

I am 'chancing' a clown trigger right now in my tank. So far...he had taken out my entire cleanup crew, but doesn't mind my corals or other fish.
