Yup!
Common white vinegar. I usually put some in a ziplock bag with the powerhead overnight. In the morning just grab a toothbrush and it will come right off and look brand new. I usually use a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. The more vinegar you use the faster and better it will clean. But in reality theres no need to use tons of vinegar. Just rinse it off and its good to go. Vinegar is reef safe anyway, but I still give a good rinse. |

I use vinegar and it works great! There is a product that "supposedly" works better(never tried myself).

It would be a good idea to place them in the vinegar and let them run for a while, take them apart and clean the inside too.

agreed, white vinegar and water. Every few months I will run the powerhead in the vinegar/ water mixture. It really cleans them up and helps to keep them running smoothly.

Sounds good, I'll do the vinegar soak. My tank is only 4 months old and the coralline is takng off nicely on the glass but it's covering my powerhead a lot faster.

I used to do that... but now I've got a baby Pollicipora growing on one of them....
I need it to get big enough so I can cut it off and mount it on a frag plug. Vinegar/water does work great, though! |
