Is this simply a piece of brightly colored coraline algae?

I've been watching it encrust this rock for months now and I'm guessing its coraline. If you look closely you might notice specks of yellow in it. I thinks it's beautiful and hope it continues to grow.

Might be some kind of encrusing sponge. Take a look here.

It is beautiful. Looks fleshy, agree on an encrusting sponge.

there is a dark maroon type of coralline algae from Indonesia common in the hobby

I have the same exact stuff encrusting on a rock. Smaller than yours, but definitely the same. Not the best pic as my MH aren't on yet and this is under just the T5's from my iPhone.
