What is this?
What are these little things under my polyps? I can't seem to find anything about them or what they are. These are the best pics I could get. They come out about 3/8" away fro the rock and seem to grow in rows. They are a star shape. And don't mind the huge aptasia next to them.
Also, what kind of leather is this? Not a kenya is it? |

The things under the polyps look like aptasia.
The leather is a sinularia

So you're saying all those small things are aptasias too, not just the giant one on the right side of the pics?

From your pics, it's really hard to tell. That's one under the leather too.

Those were the best pics with what I have (iphone camera) I'm pretty sure they aren't aptasia. The smaller aptasia I have in the tank look identical the the large ones, just smaller. These have almost the shape of a pie or cupcake with a small pie on top if that makes any sense. They don't appear to be the usual polyp/anemone shape like aptasia. Maybe they are a type of jellyfish? I've had this rock for about 45 days or so and am just noticing them now. I didn't dip it prior to adding it either.

I have seen aptasia and majano anemones in a few different growth patterns. Either way, I would get rid of them!

The red things? Do they have tiny white branches? If so, foraminiferans.
If you mean the cnidarians, I have no clue. |

They're a light tan color. No red.

You sure? Almost looks like something in the Zoa family in that most recent picture. I see a resemblance to Neozoanthus or Isaurus.
I'm hardly an expert, they just don't look a thing like any Aiptasia I've ever seen. |

Can you circle what you're talking about? Granted I'm on my phone, but I have no clue what I'm supposed to be looking at. Maybe colonial tunicates? I'm just guessing since I'm not sure what in particular you're asking about in the pics.

If every new person did that, they'd have pretty much nothing in their tanks. I've seen quite a few people take that advice only to find out too late that they had a good find.
