Problems with In-Line UV Sterilizer Connection to Fluval G3
Hello,
New to this hobby and this forum, and thought I'd reach out to get some advice. I did a bit of searching on here first, but don't seem to see other blunders like the one I believe that I've made. So I have a 56 gallon FOWLR tank which just got done cycling. I had purchased an Aquatop in-line UV sterilizer and decided to connect it today. Now the box of my Fluval canister filter says "185 gph" so when I was connecting the UV sterilizer that said "211 max gph", I thought I was safe. After connecting and turning everything on, the UV filter is leaking water at the seam (basically the middle spot where you screw the unit together which houses the bulb). Initially I thought that this was because I had a defective unit, but now after doing some searching, it seems that the Fluval G3 is listed as "Pump Performance: 340 gph; Filter Circulation: 185 gph" and I am assuming that "pump performance gph" is what I should have been looking at and that my filter is pushing more water than my sterilizer can handle)? So my questions are: 1) Since I cut up my tubing to connect this thing, can I just go to like a hardware store and purchase a new one (even temporarily)? 2) Is there another way that I can connect this UV filter to my tank (I've heard of sites saying that you can hookup a powerhead to do this, but I'm not entirely sure I understand how this setup would look). Are there any other solutions that I'm totally missing here? Much thanks! -Reji |

I've since mended my hose with some bits from Lowes and am going to purchase a different UV Sterilizer.
