I was wonder what everyone's rule of thumb is with this. Especially with BTA.

Lots of questions... Quick ones first:

How old is tank?
How are water parameters?
What is salinity compared to new items?
Are you going to quarantine them first?
How large is the tank?
Are there other inhabitants?
What light do you have and intensity along with length of time on/off?
What is the flow?

Read the sticky on acclimation. And don't try a nem until you've been at this a while. They're tricky beasts, and tend to go where they want, not where you want.

Ok and I have read them but what about for anemone. My tank has been up and running for 15 months and my parameters are all good. I figure to treat it as a fish but not use a QT.

Go to the anemone section. Orion has a few threads on QT. He lost a whole tank due to not QTing one before.
