Had to strike while the iron was hot.
I'm not really new to the hobby but I have just set up my first reef tank (two actually) in about twenty years. I have been slowly collecting parts for a 65 gallon reef tank, then yesterday I came upon a deal too good to pass up on a 50 gal reef being sold by a very motivated seller who was moving. I had to go take down the tank and pick everything up last night.
I used much of the live rock and sand in my 65. I had enough left over that I decided to set up the 50 gal in my classroom this morning. My kids think it's great. The biggest drawback to this rush is that I don't have an RO/DI unit yet so I used tap water. Now that the horse is already out of the barn a RO/DI is my next investment. Here is a picture of the 65 after about 24 hrs. I think the rockwork came out ok considering I couldn't see much when I was aquascaping. |
