The instructions say use 250 ml for 50 gal of water my tank is only 30 gal so should I only use a little more than half of the bio pellets . Each week add 50ml until I hit 150 ml

I would start out half the recommended dosage then add more in a week or two. You'll less likely have a bacterial bloom.

I use it and I started with the full 500 ml in my 90 gallon. But, most recommend to start with half, like said. I didn't have any issue with an algae bloom with it. Maybe start with like 50 - 75 ml, then bump it up from there around a week.
