Flush before or after

Added a flush kit to my ro/di. Am I supposed to flush the membrane before or after making water?

My mom said after, ohh, we're talking RO/DI... in that case I've read before. You could test the TDS after the RO, flush, then test again to see if it lowers. This is something you do infrequently anyhow.

The instructions given with my spectrapure flush kit said to flush after making water so that the concentrated brine doesnt sit next to and degrade/deteriorate the membrane.

But a flush only takes about 30 seconds so why not do both?

i have always flushed after making water. that is what i have read in many direction booklets and was told by a couple of companies.

now with that in mind i do flush all the air bubbles out of the system before i start making water. so i guess you could say i flush it for about 10 seconds before making water and for about 1 minute after making water. the more water i make the longer i will let it flush.

I usually do it both before and after. It's simple and quick enough.

Yup, that's what I do, before and after, about one minute or so each time. Also, since I started doing the before and after flush, my DI seems to last much longer!

Before and after here. My instructions recommended that, especially if you use it infrequently.

I wasn't expecting before and after, but looks like that is what I will go with since i only make water once a week. Thanks.

I've only done before, but figure it cant hurt to do after. Perhaps Ill start. I've got an auto shutoff so I'm not usually around after its done making water. The instructions that came with my Air Water Ice says flush for 2-3 mins before making water, if you haven't made water in a few days.
