Anyone use the new RO Diablo DC 200?
Anyone using the Octopus Diablo DC 200 Skimmer? I'm trying to see if it would be worth the extra $200+ for the POV skimmer. They both use the same DC pump, but the POV is the space saver design and the wine bottle design.

IMO, I would not purchase the POV. Too much air, look at the thread HERE and see the LARGE bubbles in the body. Smaller bubbles mean more surface area. The water level has to be kept very low, or it will overflow easily. There is also no provisions to hook up ozone or effectively place the effluent from a bioreactor to it due to the design.
There have been reports on other forums of the pumps dying, after only a month in use. IMO, I would buy the BubbleBlaster version until the dc pumps have earned their keep.

So the traditional design of the Diablo skimmer would be better? Or is the large bubbles due to the pump?

IMO, yes.
The BubbleBlaster pumps pull enough air, right to the edge of the body design, again, IMO, as I used SRO 1000 and & 2000's.

People have used the pov models with great success. Dc pumps are already top of the line they have actually been adopted by many different brands of skimmers not just RO. Do a search on Waveline DC pumps. That is the pump in the new reef octopus line ( modified to be used in the skimmer of course).

Not saying you wouldn't be satisfied with the older model skimmers ( have one myself )
