Gold Assessor Basslet

I was wondering if anyone has one of these and can comment on it's behavior? I was looking for a colorful, tank cruising fish that will get along with my current inhabitants.

I have a Purple Firefish that tends to hid most of the time, a Snowflake Clown, a skunk cleaner shrimp and a 2-spot bristletooth tang.

The tang and the clownfish are great since they are always cruising the tank. Ever since the clown lost his mate, he as become best friends with the Tang and swims around the tank with him constantly. Basically I'm looking for another fish that will be active in the tank and not something that hides all the time or is stationary.

Thanks!

They are not really tank cruisers, they are more of a cave dweller that occasionally comes out and about.

I had a Blue Assesor, and I thought he was really cool. Like the post above he wasnt a big cruiser, but when he did come out he tended to swim upside down, I always found it entertaining.

I have three in QT right now. All three swim every which direction in the open part of the tank, but I don't think they will continue this once placed in the display. Great fish though, and I highly recommend them!

Awesome fish! I have a gold assessor, pair of plats, candy basslet and purple fire fish.....all are fine and peaceful. The purple fire fish shares a hole/cave with the candy basslet. Your assessor will be fine with its tank mates. Mine is pretty active and will occasionally swim upside down.

Good luck.

Mine hides most of the day but is out in the morning and evenings... Almost always upside down.

I have an ORA gold assessor and he's out and about all day. He generally does cartwheels while upside down in a certain area of the tank. Mine is very active and is a great, unusual (considering how much time he spends upside down) fish. And bright yellow!

If you're asking about mine, it is a 55g.

How is the 2-spot bristletooth tang doing in the 55 gallon? I want a Squaretail Bristletooth Tang (Ctenochaetus truncatus) which is a bit smaller than the 2-spot but everyone says minimum 70 gallons.

Not worth it in my opinion a tiny fish for 100 bucks

Tangs do need 75 gallons unfortunately 55 is just to narrow, please consider a dwarf angelfish instead

Can someone get a video of the upside down swimming? I'd love to see this.

I have one, spends 99% of his time in the rocks, swimming sideways or upside down.
He does come out to eat.
If you are looking for a tank cruiser, this is not the fish.
Maybe get a wrasse?

He is doing great. Swims around all day showing no signs of stress from being in a slightly smaller than recommended size tank. He eats well and is nice and plump.

I haven't noticed any behavior that suggests an adverse reaction to being in a 55g tank. He has a little spot under a rock where he sleeps or goes when he gets scared.
