Sump selection for a 125 gal

I'm having a 125 gal (48x30x20) rimless/braceless tank built, with a 24" coast to coast (1500 gph) overflow. Will a Trigger Systems Ruby 36" sump work for me?

The dimensions of the sump are; 36X15X16. The total water volume of the sump is 34.5 gal and the operating water volume is 23.4 gal.

If this sump won't work, any suggestions for another sump?

I'm in the same dilemma except mine is a standard 125 so I'll only have 17" to play with uder the stand front to back. You could get a 40 breeder - Petco is having they're $1/gallon sale right now - and build your own.

The Trigger system might work for me. I was going to build my own, but I can't decide on size.

I debated the Trigger Systems Ruby sumps and nearly bought one, then Nextreef introduced their newer open floorplan sump and I opted for one of those. In either case I thing the standard water volumes of both models would be fine for your setup.

40B is the best choice. I suspect it is WAY cheaper. You can build it for under $100.

Yes a ruby 36 will work wonders......sometimes there is nothing nicer then a beautiful sump under your beautiful tank. I find the nicer your sump is the nicer and cleaner you will keep it!!! I had a TS 36 for my old 120 gallon and it was perfect! Check out my new sump and youll know what im talking about!

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm breathing a little easier now.
Clownin Aroun, I followed your "My New Sump" thread from the first day. I have to say, your EA sump is one of the best I have seen on RC. In fact, after viewing your thread, I was a little upset that I had already purchased my current sump. Right after viewing your thread I immediately ordered the 3 part reservoir from EA. My new tank should be delivered sometime in the next week or two, so, I guess i'll just run a test when it gets here. Thanks again everyone.

if your have the room under the stand that will fit the width of a 40B as a sump, i would just look at a 75 or something like that. with sumps. bigger is always better, especially since you have a larger display tank...but if you have to stick with the dimensions like the sump you suggested, i would look into a 55. i had more then enough room for my skimmer..had a huge fuge in it then my return section....

Thanks maddmaxx. I had already purchased the 36" TS sump while I was waiting for the tank to be built. Obviously, I thought this sump would be fine for the 125, however, I received a call from the tank builder a few days ago, basically to tell me my tank is just about ready for shipping but he wanted to know what sump I would be using and when I told him, he thought I might need a bigger sump and in any case thought it would be very close. His major concern was when the pumps are turned off (maintenance, power failure etc) and thought this would flood my stand. Anyway, thanks for your advise/help.
