BRS clear canisters....

Bought one to replace the old style. I've been running carbon on top separated by a sponge and GFO tumbling on bottom. E-mailed BRS about them sending the wrong cardridge (even the label said Bio Pellets) and was told the clear is the same for both. Ok, there are only 2 sponges as opposed to 3. How do I run both the way I've been doing? Anyone else with the same problem?

This canister right?

I used to run my carbon/gfo the exact same way you do, with only two sponges.

It goes like this: canister bottom->GFO->sponge->carbon->sponge->canister top

I didn't had any trouble this way with the canister clogging due to a lack of a sponge below the GFO.

Eventually I broke the cartridge so when the replacement came, I used one of the sponges from the old one, and I have three sponges now. It all works the same though.

Cool. Thanks. So no problem with GFO falling thru the grate?
