Slime in sump
I have a 75g reef with a 20g sump. I'm getting a clear coat of slime on the top of the water in my sump. None in my display. I have 3 sections in sump, skimmer, live rock, return. I never noticed it before but I was messing around under there and dipped my hand in the water and when I pulled it out it was all slimy, clear. What is this? Concern?

I notice it only in my return section where there is little flow/turbulence on the top of the water. When I do water changes I carefully scoop some water off the top in this section.

Yeah I recently started dripping kalkwasser and don't know if it's from that or lack of flow in sump. I think I'll lower the water level and try to get a little more flow.

I had simuliar issues also with slime algae growing in my fuge. I ended up buying a very small fountain style pump something like 30gph and putting it in the to get some flow and it fixed it

Are you carbon dosing? Vinegar perhaps? It's probably bacterial slime. You can remove it without harm.
