PLUMPING for AMP MASTER 3000 PUMP

Hello all,
I think I should ask the masters.
I plan to run an AMP MASTER 3000 on a 120g SPS tank. I want to "T" off the output water into 3 lines. One line will run an AquaC-EV180 skimmer; the other two lines will run two ¾ sea swirl wave makers. The distant (high) from the pump to the sea swirls is 5.5 feet. My questions are:
Does the pump strong enough to run all those equipments above with 3/4" pine?
Where/what can I buy the plumping (for 3 lines) that can reduces the pipe from 1.5" to 3/4"?
(I Checked Homdepots already, they didn’t have that kind of fitting.)
If you have the same or similar set up. Could you describe what you did and what you need for me?
Thank you.

Ben

You should be able to find what you need on this site: http://www.savko.com/

Aurora(du'c) was using one ampmaster for his returns and skimmer but had to use a diff pump later for the skimmer. He was complaining about the fluctuation level in the skimmer.

HTH,
John

Ampmasters are best used as circulation pumps-i wouldnt use one in a pressure situation.Get a dedicated pump for youre skimmer.

And the plumbing part you need is a 1.5-3/4 reducer bushing-dont reduce until the last possible connection for max flow rates.

This is almost exactly the issue that I am facing right now. I also have heard that it is better to use the ampmaster for circulation only. I am plumbing mine to 2 1" sea swirls and one 3/4" retrun in the center of my tank. I think I am going to order this part here.

http://doityourself.com/store/6162150.htm

This isn't ideal since I will have to reduce the 1.5" to 2x1" and 1X 3/4" tubing.

Would be interested to hear other thoughts on the subject or other ideas we haven't thought of.

That fitting will work just fine.

Ive been running an ampmaster 3000 on a closed circulation loop on my 120 for a couple years now-very powerful and quiet pump-ive been very pleased with it.

I have mine plumbed to two 1" sea swirls and 2 scwd's.

I also have a mag 12 return pump plumbed to a scwd and that completes all the flow in my tank.Altogether I think its just about perfect-I have some good strong , random flow.

Hi PYelton,
Since you have the pump, I have some questions to ask you.
Does the pump too strong for two 3/4 seaswirls?
Will the flow from two seaswirls stir up the Southdown sand bed?
Thank you.
Ben.

Yes as a matter of fact I originally had my ampmaster plumbed to just 2 1" Sea swirls but even with modifications that made the sea swirl outputs deeper in the water there was still alot of splashing and it definitely kicked up the sand alot too..That was why I increased it to four outputs and added the scwds-now its perfect for my setup.

Well the output rating for the 3/4" sea swirls is only around 850 gallons. Together that is only 1700 gph. If you do use the 3/4" you will either need to have a lot of head pressure, throttle back the pump, or tee off a third return line to the tank. I decided that I really needed to choose the 1" models if I wanted to use most of the AmpMasters capability. That being said, I am still going to tee off a third line back to the tank. Hope that helps.
