Can someone help identify thing in tank
Big white ball looking thing. Couple other but much smaller below. Size of a cotton ball. I have a feeling I'm about to get bad news

Yep. just a sponge. Actually a good filter feeder. Helps to keep your water cleaner.

It's good news, just remember, most sponges in our tanks don't care much for light, but do like some flow. There are a lot of sponges that love the light, but that's not what we commonly get as hitchhikers like yours.

Looks like it might be a pinneapple sponge. I have several in my tank. I can understand why you thought it might be an egg sack....!
