Anyone have a webcam for their reef?

Thinking about getting this one so I can check on the tank when out of town. It's $39 and wireless.

https://www.trendnet.com/products/pr...94#prettyPhoto

Even comes with a phone app

I have had a webcam on my tank for many years.

I love watching the tank while I am away at work.

Mine is PTZ and has public access set up on it.
You can take a peak at 74.62.193.110 - Lights are on from 5pm to 1am PST

I'll be going on vacation this summer for about 10 days and never thought of using a webcam, please let us know if you like the results. Great idea!

Worm,

Not sure what settings you are asking about. For Connection I have business class cable with 20mb download, 2mb upload and static IP's.

I am using an Axis M1034-w camera.

They camera is about 8ft from the tank and does not have optical zoom. I was cropping a significant portion of the picture. In order to use more of the pixels available in my camera for the tank I bought a 2x lens. The lens is made for iPhones but worked on my camera as well. It looks like it would work for the Trendnet above as well.

The link for the 2x Telephoto lens is;
http://photojojo.com/store/awesomene...-phone-lenses/

My link is;

http://waveguidesreef.dyndns.org:1181

I will like it accesible for a few days.

I have a foscam (saw it recommended here) but i hate it.
I can't see the tank because the lights blow out the exposure!
As with everything else, I guess you get what you pay for.

Does your camera have an "exposure" control?

It does. It just makes the white tank gray.

I use a TrendNet TV-IP751WIC to view my tank and it does a really nice job. It's not HD, but it wasn't $200 either. If you're going to go with the TrendNet, don't bother paying the addition money for the "I" camera, which just means it has Infrared. Go for the TV-IP751WC. I tried out the night vision on my tank, but the IR emitters show up as a reflection and block out the tank.

They are pretty easy to set up. All you have to do is forward one port in your router if your ISP blocks port 80, and get yourself a DNS address.

It also has pretty good color, white balance, contract etc adjustment so you can tune the color. Here is a screen shot of mine from a few weeks ago. Keep in mind, that this is a screen capture from my iPhone. This is looking long ways down the tank when I had it sitting on the couch for testing.

It's nothing fantastic, but works for my needs. I'm not trying to see amphipods on the rock work or anything. I just want to keep any eye on what my wife calls our "fish children".

I use the SecureView app made by TrendNet and also have it set up on my wife's phone and my Mother in Laws.

Might not be knowledgable on fish yet but on this one I can help. I have used dlink they are cheap and reliable. I prefer Panasonic but you pay for it and most are the the same resolution. I have heard good things about foscam but no personal experience. I use mine fr night time security so inside and in with lights on you should have no problems.
