Do corals benefit from the 20K light?
Do Corals benefit from the 20K light or is it only to enjoy the coloration of Corals? What I mean is, does it have enough par? For example, if I keep my 20k for 8 hours and the 10k only for 3 or 4 hours maximum (With the same intensity), will the Corals benefit? Thanks in advance

You talking about halides ?
It depends on the bulb but yes Coral benefit from blue lighting more than any other, in very general terms. I'd do what looks best to you. Some people say a 20k radium is better than the higher PAR 10k bulbs, the 10k bulbs have more actinic spectum but also more yelle/green spectrum that algae "can" feed off of, but if your tank is clean of phosphates etc it doesn't matter what spectrum lighting you use...if you are using Halides & or T5HO. LEDs are something I'm not going to get into. Coral will grow with halides & T5HO, your preference only, LEDs is a whole other ball game spending on the wattage of emitters & what spectrum emitters, what your driving them at..etc. Last edited by Michigan Mike; 05/14/2013 at 08:00 PM. |

I have three Radion XR W30 on my 125g. My Phosphate is 0.02 and my Nitrate is 0.01 and sometimes 0.0. Here is the last Video that I took in March http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO-RT9sbvCg
