Purple firefish compatability.

75g reef currently stocked with Yellow Tang, Sailfin Blennie, 1 Blue/Green Chromis, (last 1 of 3). Fire Clown and Female small Mandarin. Would the Clown be aggressive towards the firefish? It bullied my 2nd to last B/G Chromis until it gave up and died. Could I put 3 Purple firefish in the 75g or would they be aggressive to each other? The first fish I had in quaranteen after cycling last year was a Purple firefish which died after 3 weeks before going into the DT, so I would like to replace it now... Thank you.

My clown gets along just fine with my Purple Firefish. They are listed as compatible on the chart, but I guess just like people, sometimes they don't follow the rules.

I would search around about multiple firefish, but if I remember correctly, they normally fight until there is only one unless they are a bonded pair.

Multiples need to be a bonded pair or eventually there will be just one. I think a firefish would be ok. Mine tends to hang out in one spot and not move to far. The chromis roam all over so he may have got into the clowns territory.

I have 3 fire gobies in a tank with 4 clowns and they are all peaceful together. As for the 3 fire gobies, it would be difficult, I found a pair of fire gobies that I added and then a couple months later I added a Helfrichi. No problems between them, but I think if you just add 3 random fire gobies that are the same you might have issues.

In a 75 gallon tank the firefish are likely to fight amongst themselves. You may have enough space for two if they didn't pair up, but three almost certainly will fight in a 75 gallon tank. Firefish generally get along with clown fish, so that end of the equation should be fine. You may want to consider Helfrichi Firefish over the Purple Firefish; Helfrichi spend a lot more time out in the open water rather than hidden away in caves compared to Purple Firefish, although the Purple Firefish are beautiful.

I had a purple in my tank and then added 2 false percs. They did show a bit of territorial chasing at first, but now they get along fine. Get an acclimation box if you want to be extra careful.

Also my purple firefish sits front and center in the tank and stares at me. He only hides when sleeping.

I was thinking at least 2 or 3 Purple Firefish bought at the same time and in quarantine together, then into the DT hoping they would be out in the open most of the time, I like the Helfrichi Firefish-don't think I've seen them locally-it sounds from your comments that 2 would be a good idea, and hopefully they are compatible with each other. Quarantine is ready so looking forward to the weekend and the LFS's (lots in this area). Going to frag swap on Saturday, first time so looking forward to that also. Thanks everyone..

My helfrichi is out all day. Very active and colorful addition. I almost pulled the trigger on the purples but I found helfrichi ones locally.
