Pom pom crab and peppermint shrimp battle
I have a 29 gallon tank with 30 lb of live rock, 2 green emerald crabs, 2 peppermint shrimp, and an assortment of snails for a CUC. I also have a firefish goby and a royal gramma.
I really wanted a pom pom crab and bought a nice one from my LFS. It had both anemone. I acclimated him and he was doing fine. Well, he had a battle with one of the peppermint shrimp. The shrimp lost and was dead in my tank. The pom pom lost both of its anemone and a leg. He seems ok though, as he ate this morning. I read that it will grow back the leg. My question is whether I should get the other peppermint shrimp out of there. The pom pom won't survive another attack. |

Sorry to hear it...I've had large peppermints with my 2 pom poms in both a 12 gallon and now the 40 breeder with no issues - maybe you had a rogue peppermint?
Pom poms are really good at hiding. I think he'll be ok, but I'm no expert!
