Small "crack" in glass of brand new rimless tank, should I complain?

So yesterday my new tank finally arrived. I order a custom 48x30x24 150 gallon 3 sided Starfire tank from Miracles.

After un-boxing and inspection I found a very small crack in the glass in the front upper right corner. It this something I should be concerned about and that could cause issues down the road? See pictures below. Thanks!

I don't think the chip will compromise the integrity of the tank. That being said though, If I spent what I'm sure a 150g custom rimless tank costs I would complain.

If I were to pay that much for a seamless tank it better be perfect. Just my advice

I would send that back for a replacement so fast it would make their PR person puke!

If it were my tank, I would roll with the way it is. From the pictures, it looks like a small chip, not a crack. It won't affect the tank in any way, including cosmetically.

And it beat the heck out of waiting another month for a tank (if it's that fast...)

Thanks for all the replies. I will check wait for the response from Miracles before I make any decisions. I agree that the chip is probably not affecting the integrity of the tank, but since I have discovered it, I do notice it now every time I look at the tank. I also agree with you who says that the tank should be perfect for the amount of money spent on it. Was not a cheap tank by any means.

Don't send it back, but do complain about the chip. Also seems like some air stuck in the silicone job ? Do mention that too.

My tank was same thing kinda, with the silicone job, I complained and told them I don't want to be tankless, so they offered a discount on the next purchase ... Got a nice stand for my nps tank for much better price.

If it was a local pickup then I would send it back. You paid a perfect price for an imperfect tank. The rimless tanks are an ultimate experience IMO. They are beautiful. That's why they are so expensive. If its not local, I would get a discount and def not on the next purchase. 15 percent minimum. JMO. It happened to me, but it was a scratch down the front pane. I took it back and made them get me a new one. I am in this hobby because I am mezmarized by the beauty of salt water tanks, and a scratch down the front viewing panel was to much for me to handle.

The tank was not bought local. It came from Miracles in Canada shipped down to me here in Jacksonville, FL. I would not accept a discount on my next purchase. Not planning any other tanks at this point and may never use such a discount. Best case I get a new tank and ship this one back but I may consider a partial refund as well.

Personally I would take a discount on the one you already purchased, but I completely understand wanting something that expensive perfect. I expect a build thread on this

Send it back and allow them to make the repairs. Yes it is a bit of an inconvenience for you, but hey, you paid for a tank free of those imperfections.

I think that air is a spacer, if you are talking about that perfect circle you see.

That chip won't cause any issues....but if you are not 100% happy with the tank, I would let them know. Personally, I would let it slide.....there are going to be imperfections no matter what tank you get. IMO that is a minor one.

They will not want that tank back. It cost too much too ship back. It would make more sense on their part for them to give you a good amount off what you paid. On the other hand if the nick will have you stare at it forever than demand they ship you a new one. Glass can not be fixed only replaced.

My rimless had something similar on it, brand new. I actually forgot about it until I read this thread. Thanks. :P

+1 miracles use those, my tanks always had them

Let miracles know about it to see what they offer, and go from there

If I paid that much for a tank I would defiantly demand a new tank. I'm sure it will be beautiful either way once set up but all I'd end up staring at is that chip.

Worst case scenario is if you talk to them and they use the "It wasn't like that when it left our shop" spin on it. You can always get the shipping refunded. Sorry to hear about it. I recently got a BH1000 and the airline intake nipple on the elbow was snapped off. Pretty mad that I paid all that money for something I can't use until I get a replacement part. Good Luck!

Inspected the tank even more thoroughly this morning and found two more scratches. They are both close to each other and on the front panel. Will send these new pictures to Miracles as well. Not the start I wanted with this new tank.

OK, I take back what I said before. Those are more serious defects, at least from the cosmetic standpoint.

I would very carefully clean the glass all over the tank and see what you have. You may find more "ammunition".

The chip alone wouldnt bother me, but with the scratches I'd definitely talk to them and try to arrange something
