Peppermint shrimp
How many people have used peppermint shrimp in their reef systems?
Success? Fail? Did they eat the aiptasia? Or did they turn and eat your corals? |

I think they need to be hungry. When i first added my first one he destroyed the aiptasia overnight. 2 months later i got a colony of GSP on a rock and noticed a small aiptasia on it after i got it home and in my tank. I didn't worry but a week went by and he didn't eat it. So i went to the LFS i bought him from and purchased a second peppermint. That one destroyed the aiptasia almost as soon as added to the system.
I assume they need to be hungry. Mine got lazy after it was well fed.... |

Hit the big ones with boiling water or b-ionic mixed with lemon juice and let the peps handle the little ones. Worked for me.

hit or miss IMHO.. could work out great for you or could be a total nightmare for you. if i ever had to use them in the past, i removed them as soon as the aiptasa were gone. but recently within the last few years i stopped using them ever since i had some destroy some nice corals.
