Beginner To Marine :)
Hello all
I was looking around my tank today when I noticed some worm things which I think are bristle worm but I also saw one that was around 3 inches out of the rock and I still couldn't see the end of it any suggestions on removing them or getting something to kill them? Really annoying must of hitch hiked on the live rock. I've also got some pictures/video if you could possible identify what the stuff is please would be highly appreciated. Please let me know if there bad or good and ways of getting rid of them if they're bad. this is a picture of the first thing http://gyazo.com/2358c1e50806efb2252ccd29184cd653 and the 2nd thing http://gyazo.com/58e4a0353e8f0de7177502015d32b028 and finally the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3L6k...ature=youtu.be I was wondering what those extending things are too and if there safe? Thanks Everyone for your time. |

First thing looks like a yellow ball sponge
You can look up bristle worms online and get some pictures to compare what your seeing too. Most are harmless and even beneficial but there are a few who sting and grow incredibly long that you would want to remove asap |

Your best bet is to search for reef hitchhikers on the web and start comparing since photos are often tough to tell but I'll say +1 to a sponge.
Here are some sites I like: http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchhikers.html http://www.masa.asn.au/masawiki/inde..._the_Reef_Tank http://www.worldwidereefers.com/foru...hiker-id-guide http://www.melevsreef.com/id/ ..and I wouldn't do anything with the bristleworm at this point. The "bad" ones are extremely rare and the good ones are very beneficial.
