kole tang color loss?

I have had this kole tang on my dt for about 3 weeks and he has been doing great. He eats brine, algae sheets soaked in garlic and is always picking at rocks and glass. He is still eating and swimming around fine but came home today and he is a lot paler than normal. Only other fish is canary wrasse but he is afraid of the tang and stays buried except to eat. Any ideas on what can cause discoloration? There is no ich or spotting of any kind. Can't get a good pic he hides when I'm close.
