I voted "Great looking clams, but too much money". I don't mind paying $100 for a clam but anything more than that is just too much for me. I'm gonna wait it out and see if their prices come down.

It's beautiful - how big of a clam was it.
If it's between 2" - 5" you paid too much, if it's bigger then 5" good job shopping.

So "Elvis"..
You finally got that clam? Very nice looking. BTW, you've got a nice tank, very well lit.
I voted to keep 'em in the ocean, like gonioporas, becasue at this time, they are dying consistantly. |

hehehe, yes.
AS for getting it, I'm about to get it... Yes they have a large mortality rate, however as you may or may not have read, this clam is collected form the Soloman Islands where they are properly collected, chizzled off from the rock with foot still attached and shipped... Whereas. In Vietnam they would unproperly rip the clam off the rock, detaching the foot of the clam, then shipped, in greater stress.. These clams then died very soon due to the loss of their foot.... Barry, and anthony have had these teardrops for a while now, barry at clamsdirect.com, has had one for quite a while and overall a success.. We are yet to determine whether these Soloman Island clams are as good as predicted, or not!

It has been two weeks since I got my clam. At first, I thought it wasn't going to make it because the "mouth" opening was wide open and almost seemed enlarged. Boy, was I worried! Now, it has started to shoot out its "leg" muscles from the back of the clam, and have firmly attached itself to the rock that I put him on. I think it's going to be fine.

Who doesn't want my clam, Or better yet, A teardrop.. LOL
I havn't gotten it yet.. I'm still on hold, and slowly paying off my bill.. Anthony is a goodman, a REALLY good man... I really advise doing any business with him, what he's doing for me is the nicest thing any seller can or has done... Anthony if your reading this, thank you very much, you deserve a pat on the back if I could reach from my computer chair... As for the clam, it looks healthy, that avatar is an updated shot I requested from anthony, and he got me one... Pretty healthy looking to me... If you still want a teardrop Fish, anthony's got one left. It's larger than mine and is really nice, it's blue!

I love these clams man. Don't know if I would pay that kind of money for them, but it would be really cool to have one. I saw that Clams Direct got some in. http://www.clamsdirect.com/cart/cust...ome.php?cat=32
But man, I don't think I could bring myself to pay that much for them, no matter how pretty they are. I guess you just really have to be into clams to pay that kind of money for one. I have to agree with PaintGuru, I like expensive stuff only if I can frag it and attempt to recover some cost. But that is a very nice clam lebowski. I hope it does well for you. |

lebowski,
I think that Tear Drops are one of the most interesting color patterns. I also find it interesting how much they vary from clam to clam, Here's a pic of mine. |

yup, you need to calm down, lest you jinx yourself.
i think some teardrops are very nice and i would pay 200 for (there are plenty of other types i would pay just as much for), but i've also seen some that were rather blah- dingy background color and too few and/or irregularly-spaced spots that i wouldn't pay $30 for. teardrop shouldn't automatically mean $$$. |
