55 hex gone! 2, 40g breeders here!
well I gave up on the 55 gallon hex ! I just couldn't stand the idea of looking cross eyed at my tank all the time! I bought the 55 acrylic and then realized I did not really like it ,so Ma's got it for fresh water in the bedroom. I went to petco cause I heard they were having a one dollar per gallon sale on tanks. I brought home two forty breeders.(they charged tax on the full amount ,then rebated! ) still a good deal though. I built a wood stand big enough to house the 40b under it for a sump (2x4s) now I need to sheet it . I like the looks already. I bought a 250 w mh pendant to go over it, thinking to supplement with a couple compacts on the end or just live with it. ? this is going to be my first reef tank. I want the ability to grow into whatever corals I can , and maybe down the road a clam . I had a anemone and a clown about 5 years ago that the lfs was glad to sell me, watching them die caused me to start researching. I had a HOB filter, and a regular light that the lps said was a daylight. Im going to go slow here, no fish or corals until my tank is ready, and I am ready. I will get some pics later .Im feeling good about these tanks already.
