I originally did that and it did seem to have a measurable effect on appetite, but after doing some research into the topic I found a few articles that found long term health problems with garlic in fish food. Trying searching for "long term adverse effects of garlic use in fish".
If your looking for an appetite stimulant that also is a healthy food option I suggest live blackworms. I have never seen my fish get as excited about feeding as when I started using live worms. Blows garlic out of the water. |

I actually love garlic. Chop it finely, add 2 tsps of butter and in the frying pan with some mussles... You'll never go back!

My starry blenny that's used to dance for food slowed down in eating. He still eats algae and the floating flakes, just want to entice him more.

You can try the garlic as there seems to be some anecdotal evidence that it can enhance appetite, just don't make it a long term supplement for the reason stated above (MrClam).
Also, as stated by MrClam try live blackworms...once fish taste them they seem to become junkies for BW. That said, Blennies are herbivores and you said it is eating algae and flakes so it sounds that it's doing ok. What did it use to eat? or what do you want it to eat? |

I feed my fish rods herbivore, pe mysis spirulina flakes and red flakes. He was eating everything and coming up top and beg but since I changed the light from t5s to 360 kessil he started to hide and afraid and not interested in food except when the food drops in front of him, still grazing on algae. I changed the light to reef breeders but now he's afraid of me, when I approach the tank he hides. So what I do is I just put flakes and leave the tank alone. I put the mag float almost to the water surface and he gets on the mag float and wait for the flakes to come around. I don't know why he hates me now. I'm trying to catch him so I can transfer him to my 17g but it's little difficult.
