Flame clown question

I have one flame clown fish in my 75 reef, no anemone-is there a reason for the clown to shake his tail violently and make a large depression in the back corner of the sand? he seems happy and has grown since I purchased him, he will also hover in the cluster of brown polyps, and under the xania. He stays in the depression at night and near the polyps during the day-he also swims around the rest of the tank. Thank you. I read that he doesn't necessarily need a anemone to host!

This is one of the natural displays of the clowns. Yours is probably a female trying to clear out a spot in the tank to setup as home. I've seen this several times and to me it just adds to their beauty.
The clowns can be perfectly fine without a host anemone.
Good luck with things!

Could be looking for food. He is a omni-vore , he needs meat and veggie in case you didnt know.

I feed flake in the morning ad meat at night and no more then they can eat in 2 min.
Also whats used for water flow in thier?
