Red Dragon 1500/ mini BK 200 problem

I have a bubble king mini 200. The pump is a red dragon 1500. The pump stopped rotating the impeller. The impeller seems to be fine. Anyone know what Askoll/Laguna pump body I need to purchase to replace the red dragon 1500? Does the Laguna pump also have the rear bearings like the red dragon? I am assuming the impeller will fit the Laguna with no problems.

The block is from a Laguna Max-flo 1500.
I bought one from these guys so I had the motor block as a spare. You will need to make a base or remove the base from your RD 1500 and adhere it to the Laguna.

That said, are you sure it's not your impeller? If the magnet spins on the shaft, that could be part of your issue. I would disassemble the pump, place the impeller in the block and plug it in dry and see if it spins at all.

If you can't get the pump off the base plate here is an aftermarket base that works good (used one already).

No the magnet doesn't spin on the shaft. Thanks for the quick response/info.

Did you put it in a BK mini 200?

No this is a Laguna 1500 pump in a mini 200 skimmer, and yes Socaltropicalfish.com sells the stand, you just need the pump, premium aquatic sells them.

My magnet spins on the shaft. I have a new motor block.. Anyone have an idea how to fix that or do I need a new shaft.

I think you are going to need a new shaft. I suppose you could try removing the magnet and using a bit of JB weld to try to fix it. Just make sure you know exactly where that magnet needs to be to sit in the volute correctly before gluing it. Either way, I would order a new impeller. I keep a spare on hand just in case. You wouldn't believe my spare parts inventory. I've got spare everything from Reeflo pumps with unions attached so they can be swapped in a matter of 2 minutes, Tunze pumps, impellers, a laguna motor block and even a spare preprogrammed apex brain. I've got too much invested in my tank to get caught ill prepared.

Yeah, I put a super thin layer of super glue on the shaft to make it tight when you slide it on. Let it dry and slid the magnet on. It works but I think I still need a new impeller assembly. It is not as quiet as the original and I can't tell if it's the motor or the impeller that may be slightly off. There is a little bit of a humm.
Also.. last night it would not start on it's own.. I had to stick my finger in the outlet and spin the impeller to get it to start.. once it started it would stay on until I unplugged it. Then it would not start on it's own when plugged back in until I kick started it again. Today it seems to be working normal except not as quiet as the original set up.
Like you said you need to know exactly where to put the magnet and I just have to guess. So it could be that but I don't know. I am considering other pumps as back ups. I have a Reef octo Dc 5500 as my return and might try out their Skimmer version the 5500S. I can't hear the RO pump at all .. totally silent.

Jeremy at Premium said he would probably go with the bubble blaster but I like the DC pumps.
I'm going to try and get back up everything as well. I've been skimmerless for a week now and if I had a big bioload would be a problem. Not much in the tank right now.
