150 pred reef tank build
so, I've been working on getting my 150 ready for water and figured it was time to put up a build thread.
here is my current tank, is a drilled 55 with a trigger systems 36 elite sump. I will be placing the 150 in the same spot and moving everything over from it into the new tank. will be reusing the two led lights and sump I have initially. Will aslo be plumbing in a secondary fuge using a 20T tank. for stocking I am planning on three lions radiata Mombasa fu man chu couple tangs will also be moving over my current fish to the new tank as well currently have blue ribbon eel. 2 green chromis six line wrasse Bengal cardinal tiger pistol shrimp with a watchman goby dont mind the algae, i just had gotten back from a 3 week trip and a friend was taking care of the tank. |

here is the stand I built for it. should hopefully fit well in the room. built using 2x4s and 1/2 inch oak plywood.
I have finished drilling the tank for the overflow and returns. doing a beananimal coast to coast overflow setup. just waiting on the glass to be finished for it. also have finished the PVC for my eel got the first piece of glass siliconed in for the overflow. overflow will be 4.5 inches wide and 6 inches tall using three 1.5 inch drains and two 3/4 inch returns and the second piece is in place |

background taped up. trying to decide if i want it flush with the bottom or top. love this background gives some additional depth to the tank. ended up keeping it flush with the top.
will be using this to keep it on the glass. its an industrial strength adhesive. worked extremely well on 55 i have. got the 55 moved out of the way and the tank in place. everything is level with water up to the base of the overflow |

I picked up a fu man chu lionfish that popped up on divers den the other night. arrived heathly
so the good news is i got all the plumbing taken care of and the tank I running and everything made it over. now i just have to get the ATO hooked up and the electrical routing squared away. also still need to aquascape the tank, did some basic setup with the rock i had but def need more. bad news is that one of my LEDs lost its actinics when I plugged it in, so now need to get new lights. was planning to get new ones but not for a little bit. will be replacing them with the rapidled dimmable onyx fixtures fu in the second fuge for weaning also, I managed to pick up a used apex lite for the tank. will be nice being able to programming everything in. also have started weaning the fu. made a semi stealth stick with a kebob and some fishing line. fu was showing interest in the krill I had on it but took a small bite and seemed to spit it out and refused any other attempts. so I picked up some ghost shrimp since she likes those to try with. and how everything sits right now with it all cleaned up. the ballast on the second light completely let go though need to get some more rock and sand to finish scaping but its moving right along |
