Phosphate reactor
So I want to get a phosphate reactor but I want to make sure that they are not like skimmers and that they say up to this much but they are not and you need bigger.
I'm planning a 125 and a simple sump setup. Opinions |

avast mr5 is a great one, it is the smallest one they make but will be big enough for your setup + room for if you upgrade.

Look into the BRS GFO & Carbon Reactor Deluxe model. Just picked one up for my tank matching it with a Coblat MJ1200 which is Italian version of Maxi-Jet 1200 however much quieter of a pump. Setup was a breeze and working great! Well made product. It was this or the 2 little fishies phosban reactor as well but reviews turned me towards the Bulk Reef Supply unit.

the lids for the fishies unit is very easy to remove, just a screw on lid. if it does seem to get hard to remove, add some silicone greese around the o-ring and it is easy again.

I like my BRS reactors because they are made out of RO/DI cannisters.
Bulletproof and and MUCH easier to change out the media. I upgraded from my little fishies unit because it started leaking and wouldn't seal no-matter what I did. It's sitting in my garage unused. Haven't tossed it out yet. Seriously, the difference in ease of changing media is NOT comparable. Little fishies is a pita while the ro/di type canister units are a breeze. If you have an extra "insert" you can pre make your replacement then just swap them out. Little Fishies is a big mess in the sink.
