[ID] what are these "dots" on the glass?

Yesterday afternoon I added a snail army from Reefcleaners.org. In the evening I noticed a ring of these dots around my powerhead. Any idea what these might be? My tank has two clownfish and some coral along with lots of snails, a peppermint shrimp, and some hermit crabs.

Yep, when I dropped in my Reefcleaners order the nerites layed eggs all over the place.

Ha. Here are X snails, but we will send you some bonus ones and btw, some pregnant snails. I have to admit that I thought the recommended number of snails was crazy, but now that they are in the tank and dispersed, the tank does not seen over populated.

Hatching is one thing, seeing little baby nerites running around the tank is another. I don't doubt that this hasn't happened to somebody before, but in closed systems like ours, the odds just don't seem to be in the snails favor. They'll most likely be eaten by something else. JMO.

Also, if you are seeing little snails in the tank, try to get a picture of one. Sometimes collonista snails are mistaken for nerite snails.

What would baby snails look like? Just tiny little snail shells moving around?

Most likely. The one thing with them is they need calcium to grow their shells. Not sure if you test for it or dose.

I have about 10-15 baby turbo snails in my tank right now. I see them all over the glass in the morning when the lights start to ramp up

I don't test or dose for calcium. But I'm guessing if these little guys hatch, they will be sucking up calcium...

+1 on nerite eggs. Most people say that they won't hatch, or will be eaten, but I have seen about 50 hatchlings between two of the three tanks we have. Around 18 or so are in my 12 gallon nano. You'll see them mostly in the morning when your lights just come on.

I'm mean. I flick the eggs off my glass into the tank. Maybe they get eaten, maybe they don't. One thing I don't need is MORE snails.

Without a closer picture, those just look like collonista snails to me. A common hitchhiker, often mistaken for baby nerites, turbos, etc.
