sump question for a noob fowlr setup

I am in the planning/purchasing stages of setting up a 55 gal FOWLR tank.
I've had many freshwater tanks over the yrs. I've been reading for weeks and have a couple of more books coming but don't know a whole lot about sumps.
I built this set up years ago and made the tank stand lower so the TV lined up with my bookcases.
I want to put the sump in the cabinet on the left and use the following HOB overflow: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...m?pcatid=18358
Its 3 ft from the top of the tank to the floor and 5 ft from the right side of the tank to the center of the cabinet.
I've read to match the output with the input but the IN would be a siphon so I don't know how to figure that out. I was looking at a Mag 9.5 or the Eheim1260.
I will be working with my Granddaughter on this project so I would like to know a little bit of what I'm doing..........lol

A valve on the downflow and the upflow lines will let you fine-tune the flow. A mag 9.5 or equivalent will be good for a 55 g. Mags are a bit noisy, be warned: get the lfs to let you listen to various pumps.

Salinity 1.024-6; alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale; calcium 420; magnesium 1300, temp 78-80, nitrate .2. Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny, royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.
