remote deep sand bed? anybody

Anybody have a remote dsb ? I'm looking for some design ideas? I'd like to keep my dsb separate from my sump, for cleaning purposes. I'm switching from a 90gal to a 120 gal any ideas would be appreciated

This is the only way I would suggest adding one into your system, it does not have to be anything fancy, I would get some sort of a small tank or rubbermaid container, fill it with sand and plumb it in.

I've always thought about doing a layered DSB in my sump. Pretty much I have a 4 inch DSB tray with a 2-3 inch gap and then another DSB tray on top of that as water flows thru over them into the return pump.

I've even thought about just putting a 4 inch DSB in the sump completely.

Only reason I haven't done these, I'm planning to buy my first house so.... experiment budgets have been cut off completely. lol.

Maybe you can experiment for me.
